It was a big surprise, but I actually love coding, and lucky for me, UW is full of opportunities for up and coming computer scientists!
CSE 163: Intermediate data programming
This class focuses on using python to analyze large datasets, focusing primarily on visualization. It was a really great class, because it introduced a number of libraries I hadn't used before (like pandas!) in a very clear and concise way. It culminated in a final project, presented here.
Takeaways from the course:
Pros:
Coding is easy!
I learned to make an interactive program, which was really fun
Using pandas and lumpy libraries has made my life infinitely simpler and more fun!
Cons:
Nitpicky (eg, the above presentations got full points, then had a note removing 50% because it was turned in the wrong place)
Slow moving: CSE 160 covered nearly all the material in this course in half the time
